Carrier & Driver SMS Program
FreightScout, Inc. ("FreightScout," "we," "us") sends operational text messages to the carriers, drivers, and dispatch contacts who move freight for the brokerages that use our platform. This page explains exactly who receives these messages, how they consent to receive them, what the messages contain, and how to stop them. It is our public disclosure for our carrier/driver SMS program.
1. Who receives these messages
Recipients are motor carriers and their authorized drivers and dispatch contacts who have an active business relationship with FreightScout or the freight brokerage operating on our platform — typically because they have been assigned or are hauling a specific load. We do not send text messages to the general public, and we do not send them to consumers. This is not a marketing program.
2. How consent is collected
Consent to receive operational SMS is established through the contracted carrier business relationship and by the carrier or driver providing a mobile number for the operational coordination of loads we assign. That number is collected offline, at the point of doing business, through one or more of the following:
- Verbally, during load booking or dispatch. When a broker or dispatcher reaches a carrier or driver by phone to book, cover, or coordinate a load, the carrier/driver provides a mobile number and agrees to receive operational text messages about that load. The representative discloses that message and data rates may apply and that the recipient can reply STOP to opt out at any time.
- On the carrier onboarding / carrier setup packet. When a carrier is set up to do business with the brokerage, the onboarding paperwork includes a mobile number and the carrier's agreement to receive operational SMS related to the loads it hauls, with opt-out (STOP) and help (HELP) instructions.
- By providing a driver/dispatcher number for a specific load. When a carrier provides the contact number for an approved driver or dispatcher for a load we assign (including at pickup, in transit, or at delivery), that number is used solely to coordinate that shipment.
Because these are operational, transactional messages tied to active shipments — not advertising or marketing — this business-relationship consent is the basis on which the messages are sent. Carriers and drivers are never required to receive text messages as a condition of anything unrelated, and their mobile information is never purchased, rented, or received from a third party.
3. What the messages contain
Messages are strictly operational communications tied to active shipments — for example:
- Load check-calls, status requests, and location updates;
- Driver and carrier coordination for a booked load;
- Pickup, delivery, and appointment scheduling notifications;
- Missed-call voicemail transcripts and callback requests related to a load.
FreightScout does not send marketing or promotional text messages through this program.
FreightScout: New voicemail from dispatch on Load #48213 — "confirming the 0800 delivery appointment." Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
4. Message frequency, cost, and opt-out
Frequency. Message frequency varies based on load and shipment activity; you receive messages only while you have an active load being coordinated.
Cost. Message and data rates may apply, per your mobile carrier plan.
Opt-out. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. We will send one confirmation and then send no further texts to that number unless you re-subscribe by replying START.
Help. Reply HELP for assistance, or email support@freightscout.ai.
No third-party sharing. Mobile information and messaging consent are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Information is shared only with our messaging service providers (SMS aggregator and telecom carriers) strictly to deliver the messages you have agreed to receive. No mobile opt-in data is shared for third-party marketing.
Carrier liability. Wireless carriers and mobile network operators are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
